East of the Sun, West of the Moon by ForestRogers East of the Sun, West of the Moon by ForestRogers
The Lassie and the White Bear, from the tale "East of the Sun, West of the Moon." It's also my tribute to Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen, whose work inspired me before I could read. This piece was sculpted in "Premier" air dry clay, and stands about 14 inches to the top of the girl's head.

I remember this Kay Nielsen illustration, and this is a gorgeous rendering of the simple, stylized image in three dimensions. Your sculpture has a wonderful feeling of motion, of pushing forward into the wind, and you have captured the elegant contrast between the delicate vertical of the girl - looking vulnerable, but also proud and brave - and the powerful rounded bulk of the white bear. The piece is very nicely lit and photographed, as well: the solid black backdrop sets the pale figures of the girl and bear off to perfect effect.
